Seljalandsfoss
We caught the afternoon bus out of Hveragerði and landed in Seljalandsfoss around 6pm. Seljalandsfoss is a crazy cool 60m waterfall that sits in a clearing that houses a really nice campsite adjacent to it with another waterfall called Gljufrabui just 1km away. We set up camp with a stellar view of the falls and set out exploring!
| There is a (very wet) path that winds behind the falls |
After checking out the more famous of the two falls (where the bus unloads hoards of photo-snapping tourists), we found a sketchy path that made its way up to the mesa above the falls. It was gorgeous, virtually untouched by travelers- just a few sheep paths. We could see all down the coast, and dipped our feet in the creek just a few meters before it went thundering down.

Our tent was in set in a typically lush green field, a stones throw from the semi- hidden waterfall where, like many places we've come to find, was once inhabited by a troll or two. It is the Gljufrabui falls just down the field from Seljalandsfoss. The falls are set back through a canyon entrance that you can walk into if you're willing to brave the spray! After exploring and getting soaked, we cozied up in the heated cook shack, made dinner, and before we knew it is was after midnight, so we hit the sack. Time flies in the midnight sun- we keep finding urselves saying 'oh, it's 130, we should probably go to bed...'
